SETI — The Allen Telescope Array

SETI — The Allen Telescope Array is getting closer to searching the radio sky in images, in real time. A new October 5 technical paper describes a GPU-accelerated imaging pipeline being developed for the Allen Telescope Array. Instead of examining only conventional beamformed radio data, the system creates interferometric images and searches many spatial pixels for transient dispersed signals. In a controlled test using an injected artificial pulse, the system correctly recovered the signal and its dispersion measure, while the core processing ran faster than the telescope's incoming integration interval.

Source quality: strong technical preprint, but not yet evidence of an extraterrestrial signal. Confirmed: the experimental pipeline recovered the injected test signal. Not claimed: extraterrestrial detection.
