Hilarious memory, reminds me of my second mushroom trip near the woodland hills country club... believe it or not when everything hit we looked up at a sign that screamed at all of us simultaneously BEWARE OF MOUNTAIN LIONS! at the same time the park ranger began yelling toward us through a hand held microphone amplified so it was echoing through the park that we were trespassing, and we run like completely high morons we were until we got to the sand pit and played there for about 10 seconds or years (but maybe a hour in so-called "real-time"). Direct from 1974 and the kindness of Brent Turner, we present the Christmas episode of the Top 40/Sci-Fi radio show The OIDAR Wavelength! The premise? The OIDAR Wavelength is a musical program from the future, playing oldies from the 20th Century, and somehow, we back in the seventies were/are able to hear the program due to some space/time continuum. In between the (sometimes good, sometimes horribly wretched) musical fodder, a mysterious announcer known only as "Programmer #9" relates twisted news and human interest stories from the future, the programs' present. I live in SoCal and no I didn't see the "UFO" sighting this weekend but I have friends who did. They told me "no way that was a UFO."

So there's a lake on a reservation where it is said that a disc shaped object smashed down from the sky into the ice. Military is said to have surrounded the event and is keeping tight-lipped. Plane? UFO?

What seems obvious is that in the case of UFO-related movie-making the soulessness of Hollywood whereupon an inherent lack of true inventive, independently spirited leaders without any need to appeal to the emerging populace roam, to only put to print and release films that can't capture experienced thoughts, emotions or imaginations for longer than a 30 second sprint. We're left to our own devices when it comes to finding quality soft, melodic or hardcore science fiction. The quality of the hoax is so refined, we've screwed ourselves into balls of tape waiting to be recorded. Sometimes we forget that all we need is the concept simply, cheaply applied before our mind's eye. What we get is garbage, where we are given not only stupid-talk dialogue that is such an under-estimation of our intelligence that will actually make news because he/she decided to not use typical cheesy lines. "Media reports indicate that citizens of the central Andes town of Marabamba have been spotting luminous objects in the sky for several days." After closing the proverbial door on UFO investigations, the Peruvian Office of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena Research (OIFAA) has reopened it's doors due to citizen's reports they have encountered a number of unusual sightings recently.

I'm not sure what to make of this video but it's weird. Whatever the case is, it's an interesting trip-out video that will make you wonder what the hell the point of it is. What is the target audience for this film and did it work? 2 + 2 = 5 after watching this.

Every once in a while we're given an astounding amount of information in a very short period of time. It's nice to get what appears as one of those magical space awareness videos as Chris Hadfield reminds us what makes them such mega-mortals. (Or could this be yet another one of them devil's in the details kind of moments? Sheesh, it is NASA, after all!)

Oh I miss Warren Zevon.  And it isn't what you think -- I never really got him until tonight.  I don't consider myself late to any party, but his genius isn't exactly the easiest thing to get.  Bring Lawyers, Guns and Money is my favorite.  But I'm listening to his whole catalog of songs and it just gets better the more I dig.  I remember back that the only thing I ever got about Warren was his incredible relationship with David Letterman.  Still, I didn't get the music so I ignored it.  Back then as a kid I just shuffled it together with 60's style music electrified for the 80s/90s. When I heard G.G. Allen sing this, I realized wow, this might be a good song to pass along... This is a nice time capsule...
