Movie Review - Arrival

This movie has received a pretty good buzz since release on the big screen and it had been at least a year since the last time I went to the inconvenience of going to a movie theater to enjoy a movie. We went to the Regal Theater (get your Regal Gift Card!) in Granada Hills and overall it was a generally good experience. Arrival lived up to hype, in my opinion. It was smart, Jeremy Renner was only a little annoying, and Forest Whitaker was admirable in his role. Amy Adams also was surprisingly good in her role as an affected human with the right skills to help the world address the situation at hand. There was plenty of wonderful philosophical points made, and excellent characterizations that make this film palpable. If the closest comparison is Contact (Jodi Foster), I'd say it was less dogmatic and tried less - effectively doing more and it was appreciated. Apparently, the aliens feel writing is a abhorrent waste of energy so I'll stop wasting your time with too much blather. Take it from a real sci-fi old-skooler, this was worth making the time for even though I'm sure it'll look just as good on my smart TV. 7/10 FMPU Stars

UPDATE RE: THIS POST Most importantly I want to state this is this blogs MOST VIEWED post, for some reason, probably because of the strangeness that was Allison Michelle Ernst (ernest).  I have reached a conclusion that this was one of MANY hoax acts committed on the public for reasons I will not get in to now because I'm not interested in the politics of this case anymore.  It's all a shit-show, fake as could be and the entire James Holmes case was merely a act working against your civil rights.  I concluded after the many hours of videos, and various other reports I've seen that this case was a put-on.  Allison was nothing more than another actor who simply just made this weird case more weird.  Agree to disagree, HIS-Story agreed upon. Information about Gary McKinnon's UFO findings

FMPU has followed the Gary McKinnon case since it first broke. The Scottish pothead computer hacker claims to have viewed government information that was classified. Several rumors abound as in the linked blog post claims to have all the "inside scoop" -- which is, in fact, inside poop. The most revealing part of the article is that Gary used a dial-up modem to perform the hacks into the NASA’s Johnson’s space center website, where he collected/viewed sensitive data - but he was unable to perform saves on the most critical information (pictures of cigar shaped UFOs).  Drats. The rest seems like speculation, though over there at the Open Minds article it reads a bit differently.  As if you have time right? NASA - STEREO Spies First Major Activity of Solar Cycle 24 By: Laura Layton Saturday, June 6th 2009 NASA′s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) spacecraft has spotted the first major activity of the new solar cycle. On May 5, 2009, STEREO-B observed a Type II radio burst and a bright, fast coronal mass ejection (CME) emanating from the far side of the sun. The activity originated in a solar active region that rotated into view from Earth on May 8. The following is a detailed look at the initial report from NASA. A Type II radio burst is a discharge of radio waves that are emitted when shocks are accelerated by a CME—the sudden eruption of energy and solar material. The active region appears well above the sun′s equator, at about 30 degrees latitude, which indicates it is part of the new solar cycle. Activity from the previous solar cycle would appear nearer to the sun′s equator. These regions also have a distinct magnetic organization characteristic of new cycle region...
