I'm not a former famous baseball player, and I'm not anyone that has anything to gain by taking a stand one way or another in cases such as the James Holmes case. But I do work in the mental health field. I'm a professional with a masters degree, and for the most part I live a normal life, with normal interests and a busted up knee. I'm not particularly mad at our government, and while I hate a being around a heavy police presence, I benefit from the services of our police. I pay my taxes, I'm paying back my student loan granted to me by my government. I hate the nightly news because to me it's a well-designed infomercial. In fact, I have no business writing about the case outside of how it affects my life.
The James Holmes shooting up of a movie theater in Aurora is one crazy story that does impact mental health and thus impacts the way I will be doing business at some point. But what if this story was assembled by our government as so many folks on the internet believe? It hasn't panned out taking the devil's advocate in conversation at the local bar, it almost got me knocked out, in fact. The story is so complex that it is very difficult for me to wrap my brain around the notion it was merely a false flag. There are the families to consider. There is an entire city that has publicly mourned their loss. There is a tidal wave of news to filter through. And there's a licensed psychologist involved.
And there's my mind, that always looks at the meta data, processing, filtering and digesting all that information and comprising my diagnosis for the offending party...
Imagine if this was a fraud and we're left, as mental health workers, to accept this determination. We then base further treatment with this offense in mind. Knowing something else really happened...
Ok.. this is where I start to get into "midnight mode" so I'm just going to leave this topic before I drive myself crazy...
