What does history mean to you? How would you like history to be represented when your children get to learn about it? I'll go out on a limb and suggest that a lot of kids will want to learn about what happened in Colorado on that dreaded evening of madness. I was awake, albeit a little or a lot high on cannabis, and remember the feeling that this story and how it was being reported was unfolding different than a lot of other stories I've followed with interest that maybe weren't the same, but equally unusual. I decided I'd seek as much information as I could possibly dig up that early morning, and going forward just on my free time. Basically, for me, when it comes to news stories it seems I am never really close enough to the story to actually break a particular angle I think nobody knows or cares about. (Don't get me wrong, I am proud and thankful for this.) However, it does make me feel good to be able to share my viewpoint and get rewarded by having people read my viewpoint and open up some conversation on those rare occasions.
So, here's a video I'd like you to watch that I found interesting. As the Jame's Holmes case continues to whither from the mainstream's memory, details, facts, important facts that need to be remembered in order to achieve an educated, informed conclusion on what happened continue to slip towards oblivion. But not for the youth who followed this many times more intently than I did. This is one gigantic twist. James Holmes had an apparent "confidant" who after his release has been indoctrinated by the media! Imagine that! A testimony from a recently released criminal is getting more national coverage than those witnesses who provided damning testimonies the night of the shooting at those theaters! Say what? This gets progressively worse, kids. The theories continue to grow progressively bizarre, because there are aspects of this story that just make no sense. And to top it all off, I have a couple good friends that live sorta in the Aurora area, and if I went anywhere near them with this sort of information I will incur heavy wrath. So I am respectful to them, considerate of the apparent tragedy and allow them time to grieve in a productive way. I don't see Occam's Razor to be a factor here. I don't feel the official story as is known publicly is worth a damn. If we on the outside are this eager to jump up and shout, imagine how Holmes' family members must feel. We can only imagine what information they believe to be true, but you would imagine it would be educated estimates.
