Federation of Magic Pop UFOS

So there's a lake on a reservation where it is said that a disc shaped object smashed down from the sky into the ice. Military is said to have surrounded the event and is keeping tight-lipped. Plane? UFO?

I'm not a former famous baseball player, and I'm not anyone that has anything to gain by taking a stand one way or another in cases such as the James Holmes case.  But I do work in the mental health field.  I'm a professional with a masters degree, and for the most part I live a normal life, with normal interests and a busted up knee.  I'm not particularly mad at our government, and while I hate a being around a heavy police presence, I benefit from the services of our police.  I pay my taxes, I'm paying back my student loan granted to me by my government.  I hate the nightly news because to me it's a well-designed infomercial.  In fact, I have no business writing about the case outside of how it affects my life. The James Holmes shooting up of a movie theater in Aurora is one crazy story that does impact mental health and thus impacts the way I will be doing business at some point.  But what if this story was assembled by our government as so many...

A long time ago, back when I decided that I'd become a blogger... The time came when it was just simpler to put down a pad and pen and build an online home or two (or 50) where all the topics I am most interested in can be discussed and pondered.  Some could remain in confidence, others could reach out to those who like similar topics.  So one day I thought of Property Of Mars where I could talk about stories that are in most cases unexplained, or weird, or appealing to my senses. I hope everything posted here is just the warmup - it seems like I have more in the tank and I want to sell t-shirts.  And since blogging is said to be dead, I cannot help but want to share the way lots of my current writer-heroes continue on with it...  How to present is a continuing difficulty - and twitter complicates matters... Here's the difficulty  - I don't want to submit stories you can read on 50 other bigger sites.  I want to bring up tidbits you may not discuss...

They Live! is one great piece of cinematic brilliance. Well this is one hell of a Lizard People jam. Take it for a ride, you'll see hear some trippy dippy doo wop. Or something like that.

In a startling piece of scientific revelation, the Antikythera Mechanism has been "determined" to be as old as 50 B.C. Previous estimates presumed this proud piece of scientific engineering to be at least 50 years older than this revised estimate. The mechanism was used as an astrological tool to help the scientists of the day calculate and estimate astronomical events and the Olympic Games schedule, according to THIS article.    I had not heard of this piece of old-school (re-found by searchers in 1901) technology prior to this article but its sure nice to know there's always more to learn about. 

Confusing times if you are finding yourself less interested in the topic of UFOs and related psychOdelic related antics.  These days I spend a lot of time outside the Los Angeles area.  This has, traditionally, been a pretty good place to escape that hellish pit of fire.  The show I've linked took me right back to that pit of fire and it turned out to be quite entertaining.  If you're in the mood to listen to some high weirdness in the form of a one-way argument, then this is the show for you because you're about to learn some names you never knew, connections you made and an unrelenting push on philosophy. Irvin made it sound like all the people who helped Mckenna to make such a wonderful return to the public eye (thanks to the internet...) haven't the capacity to question the notion that maybe, perhaps, possibly, that Mckenna had views inconsistent with his overall message, and that psychedelics perhaps were his pet project for spreading an agent of control across...
