Galileo Project Starts Measuring the Number UFO Videos Usually Miss UFO footage has one enormous problem: We usually don't know how far away the object is. Without distance, speed becomes guesswork. A light crossing the sky quickly might be a nearby bird or drone moving at ordinary speed. Put that same apparent motion many miles away and suddenly the required velocity becomes extraordinary. The Galileo Project is trying to remove that ambiguity by doing something surprisingly straightforward: Look at the same object from several locations at once. Its researchers have now released their first triangulation results from three infrared observing stations around Las Vegas, separated by roughly 2 to 10 kilometers. By comparing the viewing angle from each station, the system can reconstruct an object's three-dimensional location, distance, speed and acceleration.
