Post #420 - Debunking It: 'Gawd Bless America'

Here's a story that will ultimately be a little too cheeky with a very high "duhh" level. Gawd is the story of a man with a problem. He spends too much of his life and earnings on paranormal related interests. Sound familiar? For the record, I've never spent money on paranormal stuff except for the olives I get at that Alien Jerky place on the road home from Vegas.

Sunday UFO Picture

Another week in LA. I survived the flu, and I am almost back to normal health. I didn't miss much, as no good sightings were reported raising hair on my tail-end.

Music Double Header!

Always The Sun is one amazing piece of work by The Stranglers. They had quite a few of them, but this is the one that woke me up and guided me to their other prolific works. Oh crap the original music video of this song is on lockdown over there @ the new tv mind, so here's an alternate version...(original video is here)

As part of the double header, I thought it would be (just BE) to add something new and I remembered that I had just viewed the Radiohead song. Brilliant as ever, and I get the feeling this single from the new album took more than five minutes to write but I could be wrong. Lotus Flower

Yeah so I am quietly developing a penchant for UFO stories in their current forms as they are currently reaching reports in the media. I would say my expertise has arrived organically. UFOs and science fiction has been in my consciousness since I was young, but these days I have grown to absolutely HATE when UFOlogists state this fact. In any case, it comes from my dad's side of the family as a lot of us, more than most families I've witnessed, have an interest in the paranormal despite that deep-down "sucker's game" feeling to it all.

That said, I can pretty much discuss most of the UFO "events" in the last few years. During this time, sightings are off the charts and yeah we know most are explainable but about those few that are not so easily explainable... well we like those. They are like that one interesting thing that happens during anything you do that makes you want to try again, even if you fail at it repeatedly.

Just a few thoughts for a Friday.

Physical Mess

Yeah so I'm under the weather, my body aches, my chest is on fire, was a little vomitone earlier, and I even have dizzy spells.  Those dizzy spells are the worst part, but here I am able to blog.  Thought I'd re-connect with some of the readers, and stroll around the blogosphere to find something of interest.  As per usual, we're so very topic-conscious over here at the FMPU blog, AKA www.propertyofmars.com .

The UFOlogy hotlines have been exploding over Gary McKinnon lately.  It seems like a never-ending battle between Gary, his mom and the UK legal system.  Over the past 9 months there was a political change as Nick Clegg took over as Deputy Prime Minister the Liberal Democrat leader.  His primary stand was to prevent Gary from ever coming to the US, but things continue to get messy.  It's not that easy and Gary's mom is pissed.

MARS 500 Update
MARS 500 was all over the news yesterday and today.  That's cool, a little unusual that it'd be everywhere after getting half as much press at the introduction of the program.  Better late than never says FMPU.  Anyway, the 520 day mission began in June of 2010.  They are now simulating the landing on Mars, and everyone and their momma is interested.  Don't worry folks, still got 20+ years before this mission happens for real. I wonder if this blog will still be around at that time...

Less stigmatized in the 50s and 60s, but UFO research is much more difficult today, says CUFO director
The late, great J. Allen Hynek is highlighted on a podcast over at Clever Apes.  He started CUFO, a center that was recently moved, after about 37 years of existence, into the new director's home in Chicago.  Mark Rodeghier explains his ideas on the UFO field.

Berlin Burning

Here's a new video from Germany.  The event was captured Feb. 11th.

Gilmour to Pay McKinnon's Mental Health Tab

FMPU has covered the Gary McKinnon case over the years, and we have also posted David Gilmour videos on at least a couple occasions, so wouldn't it be neat if these two could hang out?

Gilmour must have found interest in the McKinnon story because now he's opening le checkbook to fund an assessment and treatment for the man facing 60 years in American prison.

The former Pink Floyd guitarist works with mental health organizations, and since Gary is a big Floyd fan man facing such a harsh penalty, there is a need for thorough investigation in to his state of mind.

Paranormal Activity iPhone Game

I was emailed information about a new iPhone game called Paranormal Activity:
Sanctuary is currently available for everyone who is interested in the supernatural. This is an engaging and free iPhone game that uses geo-location based technology and augmented reality to allow players to find and fight supernatural beings in their neighborhood, on their way to work, school or even the store. I’m writing to see if you would consider posting the following on your blog.

Sounding any good yet?

Demonic forces are trying to bring hell to earth, and it’s up to players to withstand temptations and possessions to stop them. Using their iPhones at home, at work, or where ever they are, this location-based, augmented reality experience will empower players to seek out demonic activity that will test their sanity at every turn. Be careful not to succumb to evil urges, or players will become possessed by powerful dark forces.

Cast spells to create sanctuaries around a player’s favorite places to keep the demons away, or submit to the unknown and spread hellholes across the city. But players can't persevere on their own; they’ll want to recruit and collaborate with friends around the world to stay on top.

Can't say I've tried this yet because I left my iPhone on the top of car one day last month and drove off and was never recovered (by me). Anyway, give it a shot if you'd like and let me know how you like it.

A free version of the game can be downloaded at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/paranormal-activity-sanctuary/id392834635?mt=8&ls=1.

Literary Pop - Burroughs and UFOs

William S Burroughs' Naked Lunch made an impact on me.  As with the zillions of other Naked Lunch fans who might agree, the words remain stimulating, and yet the message was confusing for a young man to grasp, but so much creative energy flowed through the pages.  The imprints were made and left in my brain to digest over time.

Interestingly, the book that was printed in 1959 was edited and in 1962 was reprinted with the originally redacted UFO/ET themes.  An article discusses the UFO/Naked Lunch connectivity as the book celebrates its 50th anniversary, which makes the book the same age as my sister.  Can't wait to remind her.

The article finishes with Burroughs,“Nature has a way of biting back, and teaching us lessons. Why should we not look for answers about alien life? It’s fear of finding out that’s kept this from being the story of the century.”

Big ups to the Dangerous Minds website for doing a nice piece on a near-impossible to find one-off album by These Trails.

This trippy video will keep you swinging your hips in wild ways for over a half-hour!

WikiLeaks’ UFO Cables: More About Raelian Cult Than Alien Life

So it seems that Julian Assange wasn't joking around when he brought up UFOs. Now never once was there much confidence he was going to bring forth documents that would blow the lids off the conspiracy that drive our greatest on and off-line detectives to madness. In his roundtable in the video below he answers some questions.  The comments he said previously regarding UFOs were promoted similarly, but with the additional fact that cults are more central to the focus.  I don't know very well the Raelians and what they are in to, but the internets are a wonderful place.  If you have any suggestion(s) on Raelian information, let me in the loop.

The real news here is that the cables are going to be available in the next few days.  Perhaps.  But another fantastic story I was listening to focuses on the timing of these WL leaks.  And it has to do with Egypt.  As history has it, Nazi Germany (WW2) made deals with Egypt as part of their eventual attacks laid upon the Jews.  Move forward, they formed the Muslim Brotherhood.  The British took them down, and longer story short, they were manipulated and sent to Egypt where they were under British control.  They were then handed over to the CIA and, of this formed Al-Q terrorists.   I think I just bastardized Colvin's hard work, but I'm trying!

Anyway, figure in the fake Wikileaks stories that are out there now (UFOs at war with us in the Antarctica, etc.), and without getting too deep: Don't trust whats going on in all those deals going on in Egypt.  These UFO-tinged announcements are creepy, but when you look at the deeper under-tones, it's easier to just go downstairs and make yerself a sandwich because Julian can sure capture a crowd.  Ok, so yeah, I'm off to read Raelian for Dummies.

APOD today is CRAZY

The Astronomy Picture of the Day is pretty unusual. Especially the way they describe this photo, as APOD (a NASA site) says,  "There is a slight possibility that it just might originate from an extraterrestrial intelligence."
